Jake Muzzin Collects 3 Assists Kings Beat Senators 5-3
- Updated: December 11, 2014
Los Angeles Kings Defenseman Jake Muzzin collected 3 assists as the Kings beat the Senators 5-3 tonight. The Kings were shutout in their last game against the Buffalo Sabers, and were on a mission tonight to not let that happen.
To many fans displeasure the Kings have lacked energy so far this season. While the Kings have been up a down so far this year they showed just how good they can be when they are firing on all cylinders.
The first period looked as if it was going to be a another tough night for the Kings. The Senators outshot the Kings 15-4. It didn’t hurt the Kings as the game was tied after the first 0-0 thanks to this amazing save by Jonathan Quick.

Early in the second period Matt Greene scored a goal off a Jeff Carter assist, and Justin Williams scored off a Jake Muzzin assist. This gave the Kings the 2-0 advantage. Bobby Ryan scored his sixth goal of the year for the Senators as the Kings went into the third period with a 2-1 lead.
In the third period the Senators quickly tied the game after Mark Stone scored a shorthanded goal. Anze Kopitar answered back with a goal of his own that was assisted by Drew Doughty and Jake Muzzin.
Just a minute and a half later Trevor Lewis scored his fourth goal of the year, assisted by Tyler Toffoli and Jake Muzzin which gave the Kings the 4-2 lead. Jared Cowen scored one more time for the Senators, and in the last-minute of the game Tanner Pearson scored an empty net goal to seal the deal for the Kings.
Tonight was game two of the Kings 5 game road trip. They lost the first matchup but are now 1-1 on the trip. The Kings will continue the road trip on Friday night when they take on the Montreal Canadians.
