The agreement with Ellis came just a few days before arbitration. If the Dodgers and Ellis did not agree on a deal an independent arbitration would have set his wage for the upcoming season.
Ellis struggled to hit the ball last season as he hit just .191 while playing in only 93 games. He did suffer through injuries has he went through knee surgery and a sprained ankle last season.
A main reason why Ellis is back with the Dodgers this season, is due to the fact he has a strong relationship with Dodgers Ace Clayton Kershaw.
Kershaw told latimes.com this about A.J. Ellis back in October .
“I think we’d be losing a lot if we let him go,” Kershaw said. “I know A.J. will land on his feet, but we need him here a lot.”
We know Kershaw is happy Ellis is back with the Dodger Blue!
