Inglewood So Good For The Rams

After one of the most unusual off seasons in NFL history, football returned to play this past week. With years of hard work, and billions of dollars invested, Sofi stadium was ready. With Sofi stadium complete, the Rams and Chargers will both play their homes in the new venue. As for the Rams, they were ready for the occasion.

In Inglewood, on Sunday night, the Rams hosted the Dallas Cowboys. These two teams last met in Dallas late last season, and also faced off in the divisional round of the playoffs two years ago.

This game, realistically could have gone either way. With no fans in attendance due to COVID-19,  home field advantage will not have as much of an impact as it has in the past. Another challenge both of these teams faced was a lack of preseason. Given the circumstances, the Rams managed to prevail in a tight 20-17 contest. Los Angeles opened the game with a successful scoring drive. The Cowboys would respond with a scoring drive of their own in the second quarter. The Rams would take the lead back with a pair of field goals. However to close out the first half, Dallas would score to put themselves back on top, giving them a one point lead. Luckily the Rams scored another touchdown in the third quarter. The Rams went on to hold Dallas to a field goal for the rest of the game.

One of the reasons for the Rams success was their time of possession. Los Angeles also converted more on third down. One story line to watch this year for the Rams is the new coaching staff on both offense and defense. Sunday night was a good start for them. Another exciting story line for the Rams is the contract extensions for both Jalen Ramsey, and Cooper Kupp. Ramsey’s extension goes for five years, and is worth up to one hundred and five million dollars. As for Kupp, his contract extension will be worth forty eight million dollars over the next three years. These extensions help lock down a majority of the Rams core players.

Up next for Los Angeles, they will travel east and face the Eagles. The Rams have struggled against the Eagles in recent years despite the Rams success in the league since Sean McVay took over. However, Rams fans should have some optimism due to the Eagles blowing a 17-0 lead to the Washington football team. If the Rams can continue their momentum, they have a good chance at starting the season off 2-0 before they face the Buffalo Bills in Buffalo for week 3.
