Ryu has been out all season with the shoulder problem. His rehab was shut down due to him being unable to regain his velocity.
Jon Heyman of CBSSports reported that Ryu is expecting to have surgery this week.

The Dodgers were hoping to get Ryu back sometime in the near future. This is another blow to the rotation as Brandon McCarthy is out for the year with a torn UCL. That marks two of the Dodgers rotational pieces out and means they have to rely on someone else to step up and pitch a lot more this year than expected.
Carlos Frias, Scott Baker, and Mike Bolsinger have been inserted in spot starts in recent weeks. They will need them to pitch well later in the season.
