Huston Street blew his second save in as many nights and the Los Angeles Angels fell to the Houston Astros 3-2. After back to back wins via the walk-off the Angels were unable to provide that ninth inning magic tonight.

Hector Santiago got the start for the Angels. He had a strong outing as he pitched 6.1 innings allowing 1 hit while striking out 5. He did walk 4 batters and picked up the no decision.

On the other hand Collin McHugh got the start for Houston. He had a very impressive outing but received zero run support. He pitched 7.1 innings allowing 5 hits and 2 runs while striking out 7. He picked up the no decision as well.

Mike Trout hit a home run to center field in the first inning that gave the Halos the early 1-0 lead. This was his 8th of the year.

Kole Calhoun hit a RBI single to left center in the 8th inning. His single allowed Johnny Giavotella to score and the Angels held a 2-0 lead.

Albert Pujols extended his hitting streak to 10 in a row in the game and the Angels looked to be cruising to a 3rd win in a row.

Fernando Salas finished off the 7th inning for the Halos tonight recording one punchout. Joe Smith pitched the 8th inning and everything was setup for Street.

Street who pitched for the third day in a row came on in the 9th. He ran into trouble as Jake Marisnick hit a RBI single to left center that brought in Colby Rasmus. Preston Tucker followed with a RBI single of his own that brought in Robbie Grossman.

With the game tied at 2-2 Jose Altuve reached on a fielder’s choice as he beat out a throw to first and the Astros held the 3-2 lead.

Luke Gregerson came on in the 9th inning to record the save for the Stros.

The Halos will try to recover from the loss when they take on the Astros tomorrow night in Game 2 of the series.
