- Updated: August 27, 2017
The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim started The MLB Players Weekend on a losing note, dropping the first game to the Houston Astros, 2-1.
Kole Calhoun (Koleman), got the Halos on the scoreboard first on a double to deep right that scored Mike Trout (Kiiid).
The Astros Rookie J.D. Davis hit his second career homer off of Parker Birdwell (Pbird),(L,7-2). The Astros scored their final run on a wild pitch that scored George Springer in the top of the sixth inning.
NEXT UP FOR THE ANGELS:
The Halos (65-64) will try to snap a three-game losing streak when Tyler Skaggs (Swaggy),(1-4, 3.96 ERA) will take the mound. He will be matched up with Brad Peacock (10-2, 3.21 ERA). The Halos are now a game and a half out of the final Wild-Card spot in the American League, behind the Minnesota Twins.
Anaheim will continue to fight for a playoff as the season hits the homestretch. They will need big efforts from their rotation and Trout in order to clinch a playoff berth.
