Hollywood Blvd. News – San Diego Chargers Edition

The San Diego Chargers and Oakland Raiders aren’t sparing any expenses when it comes to their potential new stadium.

The LA Times reported that the two have spent over $900,000 in an effort to fast-track a ballot initiative which could move things forward with their proposed new stadium. This isn’t the largest sum of money though. The St.Louis Rams owner spent almost double that.

The article writes the following:

“The Chargers contributed $466,000 to the campaign — known as Carson2gether — and the Raiders kicked in $424,000.

Each team funded the organization with $375,000 in cash. Their non-monetary contributions made up the balance. The Raiders, for example, gave $14,000 of unspecified merchandise to Carson2gether. The Chargers provided $50,000 in consulting services.

In the period covered by the statement — April through June — Carson2gether spent $356,000.”

Is it me, or is this a ridiculous amount of money for something that isn’t set in stone yet? What do you think will happen with the San Diego Chargers, and potentially the Oakland Raiders, in regards to their stadium battle?

Let me know what you guys think!
