Hollywood Blvd. News – San Diego Padres Edition

Last week the San Diego Padres took the first steps towards being the host of the 2016 MLB All Star Game. To do this, they unveiled their personalized logo at a big reveal ceremony.

To be honest, it’s pretty basic in it’s design, and won’t be winning any CLEO’s or graphic design awards anytime soon. It does, however, resemble the Padres logo, and that’s exactly what you want!

Yahoo Sports writes the following on the design:

“The only thing that isn’t made clear here is that despite a National League city hosting the event, the American League will be treated as the home team. It’s a detail that won’t immediately come to mind for most fans, but should probably be driven home at some point before the event as to avoid as much confusion as possible.

Unless, of course, those in the MLB marketing department would rather not acknowledge this odd new twist to the All-Star game. In that case, we completely understand.”

Check out the design here:

There’s no doubt in my mind that there is some sort of marketing strategy waiting in the MLB wings. And we can’t wait to see the All-Star Game in one of our cities!
