Hollywood Blvd. News – San Diego Padres Edition

We like to start our day searching the web and reading articles about our beloved LA sports teams. For this edition, let’s dive into the news surrounding the San Diego Padres.
Starlin Castro hit a walk off single in the 11th and Miguel Montero hit two home runs as the Chicago Cubs beat the San Diego Padres 7-6 in extra innings:
“After the highly anticipated debut of Kris Bryant was unsuccessful the Cubs and Bryant looked for revenge today.
Tyson Ross got the start for the Padres. He pitched 5.2 innings allowing 5 hits and 3 runs while striking out 9. Ross did have trouble with location as he walked 5 during his outing. He was awarded a no decision.
For the Cubs Kyle Hendricks got the nod. He pitched 6 innings allowing 3 hits and 2 runs while striking out 8. He was awarded a no decision as well.
Matt Kemp got the Padres started in the first inning with a two run shot to left. His home run brought in Yonder Alonso and the Padres held a 2-0 advantage at the end of the first inning.

Jon Lester was the big name to change addresses this winter and looked to gain his first win in a Cubs uniform:
“The San Diego Padres had other plans as they beat the Cubs 5-2 this afternoon.
Andrew Cashner got the start for the Padres. He pitched 6 innings allowing 5 hits and 0 earned runs while striking out 5. He did walk 2 batters on his way to his first win of the year.
Jon Lester got the start for the Cubs. He pitched 5.1 innings allowing 6 hits and 3 runs while striking out 4. He walked 2 batters as well and dropped to 0-2 on the year.
The Cubs jumped on the scoreboard in the first inning. Jorge Soler hit an RBI single to center that brought in Dexter Fowler to give them the early 1-0 lead. Chris Coghlan followed with a single to right field and brought in Soler and the Cubs held a 2-0 advantage heading into the 2nd inning.”
