We like to start our day searching the web and reading articles about our beloved LA sports teams. For this edition, let’s dive into the news surrounding the San Diego Chargers.

The San Diego Chargers made a draft day trade with the San Francisco 49ers in order to draft Wisconsin running back Melvin Gordon:

“Ian Rapoport of NFL.com reported the news via Twitter.

Gordon was an unanimous All-American in 2014. He also won the Jim Brown Trophy and the Big Ten offensive player of the year. He ran for 2,587 yards last season.

The Chargers looked to at depth at the position and were able to get the best running back in the country.”

According to a report out of Fox Sports, Philip Rivers could be staying put in San Diego:

“The Chargers are looking intently at getting an extension deal together, after the team met with his agent in person last week.

On January 1st we wrote about the Chargers’ and their efforts to work on a contract extension. Yes, this has been going on since the beginning of the year. We wrote:

“General Manager Tom Telesco spoke to the media about the future of Philip Rivers and told ESPN.com this.

I still think he has a number of years left,” Telesco said. “I really do. He keeps himself in great condition. He’s always prepared. And he’s still playing at a high level. Now, anytime you have a star player that’s into his 30s, in my position you always have your eye on who’s the next guy. But I feel good about where Philip is.”
