We like to start our day searching the web and reading articles about our beloved LA sports teams. For this edition, let’s dive into the news surrounding the San Diego Chargers.
According to reports, Eric Weddle is skipping the Chargers’ workouts. The reason? Well, he feels “disrespected” because the team refuses to discuss a new contract with him:
“UT San Diego reports Weddle saying the following after his own home-workout this afternoon:
“I feel highly, highly disrespected,” Weddle said. “… It is what it is, but there is no reason for me to put out any more effort.”
Weddle, coming off his second first-team All-Pro season, said he does not know when (or if) he will join the team for offseason workouts. It seems unlikely.”
Although the conditioning and coaching sessions aren’t mandatory, Eric Weddle has not been one to miss out on the team’s activities.
Defensive captain the past four years, and the Chargers’ Defensive Player of the Year three of the last four seasons, he has played in 80 straight games.”

UT San Diego provides an update to potential stadium move for the Chargers:
“Antonio Gates understands that his career is winding down. The 35-year old future first ballot Hall of Famer is one of the best tight ends to ever play the game. But as he gets older he understands the limitations and grind of a full NFL season.
Gates sat down with Emily Kaplan of Sports Illustrated/ The MMQB and talked about life after football. For many us who follow an array of sports have fixed feelings when athletes talk about life after their pro career. We heard Derrick Rose talk about life after basketball after his numerous injuries and that upset many people including myself. We’ve heard Lakers Legend Kobe Bryant begin to talk about his life after basketball with his investments in Body Armour and people are okay with that.
For me as a MBA student it’s refreshing to see players look at their life after their professional careers are over but it’s all about the timing.”
