We like to start our day searching the web and reading articles about our beloved LA sports teams. It’s easy to get lost in the depth of the inter web, but luckily for you we have compiled a list of the most interesting and pertinent news stories for your morning reading pleasure. For this edition, let’s dive into the news surrounding the San Diego Chargers.

It was announced that the San Diego Chargers’ center, Nick Hardwick, will retire:

“The 11 year veteran drafted out of Purdue in the third round.Hardwick was Philip Rivers‘ center for the better part of their time together in the NFL. NFL.com describes Hardwick’s influence on the game as,

“Often lauded for his toughness, durability and longevity, Hardwick started 136 games in his career. The two started 108 games together from 2006 to 2013.”

Hardwick declared 2014 would be his last season, but didn’t foresee it being cut drastically short due to injury, he told U-T San Diego. The center played in just one game before neck issues forced him to sit out for the rest of the year, ultimately ending his time as a professional just one game into his 11th season.”

It was announced today who the Class of 2015 for the Pro-Football Hall of Fame consists of.

“San Diego Chargers rejoice, our beloved legend Junior Seau leads all votes.

Junior Seau played in the league for 20 years; something no other defender has been able to accomplish. He has 56.5 sacks to his name, 18 interceptions, and three forced fumbles with the San Diego Chargers, Miami Dolphins and the New England Patriots. Seau is a six-time All-Pro linebacker and he helped lead the Chargers to their lone Super Bowl appearance in 1994.

His welcoming into the Pro-Football Hall Of Fame is a great accomplishment for him and his family, but also reminds us of the awful stigma that follows football for players who have retired; concussions, sore muscles etc.”
