Hollywood Blvd. News – San Diego Chargers Edition
- Updated: January 24, 2015
We like to start our day searching the web and reading articles about our beloved LA sports teams. It’s easy to get lost in the depth of the inter web, but luckily for you we have compiled a list of the most interesting and pertinent news stories for your morning reading pleasure. For this edition, let’s dive into the news surrounding the San Diego Chargers.
Bleacher Report discusses the Chargers need to draft Eddie Goldman:
“The San Diego Chargers should make Florida State defensive tackle Eddie Goldman their top priority in the 2015 draft.
Draft pundits Todd McShay (ESPN Insider), Bucky Brooks (NFL.com) and Daniel Jeremiah (NFL.com) all have Goldman going to the Chargers in the first round of their respective mock drafts.
At first I didn’t see it. A defensive lineman in the first round? Really?
San Diego had one of the worst rushing attacks in the NFL last season, and Philip Rivers was sacked 36 times while playing through injuries he sustained from hits in the pocket. Based on those facts, I’d consider an offensive lineman or even a running back as a top need.”

UT San Diego discusses the possibility of hotel tax paying for a new Chargers stadium:
“This is not a campaign about a football stadium, but one for a multi-use facility to be paid by hotel tax.”
That’s what Chargers’ strategist Mark Fabiani told U-T San Diego columnist Nick Canepa earlier this week. It’s long been part of the downtown stadium plan.
Put aside for a minute that local hoteliers don’t like the downtown stadium-convention center expansion idea backed by the Chargers, much less boosting the transient occupancy tax on hotel rooms to finance it.
Let’s even suspend belief and say the hotel folks will come to love the idea.”
