We like to start our day searching the web and reading articles about our beloved LA sports teams. It’s easy to get lost in the depth of the inter web, but luckily for you we have compiled a list of the most interesting and pertinent news stories for your morning reading pleasure. For this edition, let’s dive into the news surrounding the San Diego Chargers.

It seems as though the San Diego Chargers have another injury to think about:

Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers, who missed practice Wednesday, is battling a back injury that is more severe than the team has acknowledged, a league source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

Rivers’ back injury was quietly added to San Diego’s injury report last week, to go along with the rib injury he has been battling for weeks. By now, Rivers’ rib injuries are improved, making his back injury the significant issue, a league source said.

The injury has contributed to Rivers’ pedestrian performances the past two weeks, against New England and Denver.

Through the first eight weeks of the season, Rivers completed 68.3 percent of his passes for 2,213 yards, 20 touchdowns and just five interceptions, posting a 109.9 passer rating. The Chargers were 5-3 in those games.”

The Chargers will play in San Diego in 2015:

“The team announced late Tuesday that it will not exercise the termination clause in its Qualcomm Stadium lease, something it has had the ability to do every Feb. 1 since 2007.

“It’s great news,” Mayor Kevin Faulconer said Tuesday night. “The Chargers belong right here in San Diego. I’m looking forward to working productively with them on a solution, and I’m confident we can achieve one together — and one the public will support.”

The Chargers would have had to pay the City of San Diego $17.6 million to leave in 2015.

Chargers special counsel Mark Fabiani, the team’s point man in its quest to get a new stadium built, said in a statement that the Chargers will “keep working to find a publicly acceptable way to build a Super Bowl-quality stadium in San Diego. Calendar year 2015 will constitute the team’s (14th) year of work on a San Diego stadium solution.”
