We like to start our day searching the web and reading articles about our beloved LA sports teams. It’s easy to get lost in the depth of the inter web, but luckily for you we have compiled a list of the most interesting and pertinent news stories for your morning reading pleasure. For this edition, let’s dive into the news surrounding the Los Angeles Lakers.

The Los Angeles Lakers were unable to conquer the Portland Trail Blazers tonight. They lost 106-94:

“Kobe Bryant missed another game tonight as he was resting for the sixth time in 11 games, and second in a row. Wesley Johnson returned to the team tonight following an injury that kept him out of the last three games.

Johnson scored 17 points, and Ronnie Price had a career-high of 12 assists. Tarik Black had another effective game tonight as he completed a driving-dunk to tie the game up at 69-69.

ESPN.com reports the following:

“Lakers reserve guard Nick Young, who was 3 for 11 from the field and 1 for 8 from 3-point range, missed one from behind the arc just before the third-quarter buzzer as Portland took a 72-69 lead into the fourth. Young’s fast-break layup a minute into the quarter gave the Lakers a 73-72 edge, their last of the game.”

Bleacher Report discusses the future of Ed Davis:

“Every team needs a guy like Ed Davis. And for the Los Angeles Lakers, a modest two-year, $2 million contract signed over the summer is paying off.

Davis plays hard, and he gets in his opponents’ way. He doesn’t demand the ball on the offensive end, but when he gets it down low where the paint is crowded and bodies crash, he knows what to do—he finishes hard at the rim and lopes back the other way, ready to do more work.

After dropping 20 points for a season high against his former team—the Memphis Grizzlies—in a loss Jan. 2, Davis took the blame upon himself. He didn’t talk about his eight rebounds or blocking two shots, or shooting 7-of-9 from the field.”
