We like to start our day searching the web and reading articles about our beloved LA sports teams. It’s easy to get lost in the depth of the inter web, but luckily for you we have compiled a list of the most interesting and pertinent news stories for your morning reading pleasure. For this edition, let’s dive into the news surrounding the Los Angeles Lakers.

According to Mark Medina of L.A. Daily News Kobe Bryant will not play in tonight’s game against the Portland Trail Blazers:

“Medina also reported that Bryant will not even make the trip to Portland in an effort to save the 36 year old’s legs. Kobe Bryant sat out two weeks again after struggling with fatigue and old age.

Head Coach Byron Scott told Medina and dailysportsnews.com that Bryant is fine with the rest and that it didn’t take any convincing to do.

“You (reporters) might think he probably argued about it. But he said it sounds good to him,” Scott said. “He stuck to his plan of ‘Whatever you want to do.’ ”

The Los Angeles Lakers weren’t able to beat the Portland Trail Blazers:

“The Los Angeles Lakers failed to beat the Portland Trail Blazers tonight, with the game ending 98-94.

It was the first meeting between the two teams but ultimately the Lakers struggled as they were short-handed against the white-hot Damian Lillard.

Lillard finished the game with 39 points and led the Blazers in scoring. He has now scored at least 39 points in three of his previous nine games. LaMarcus Aldridge added 21 points, and Meyers Leonard had 12 points and 12 rebounds.

Kobe Bryant did not travel for today’s game so his help was not available on the court. Jordan Hill stepped up for the team and brought home 23 points, 14 rebounds and 2 assists. Five of the Lakers players were able to get into the double-digit zone in scoring, including Linsanity himself, who had 14.”
