For this edition, let’s dive into the news surrounding the Los Angeles Lakers.
ESPN.com reports on Kobe Bryant, Mitch Kupchak, and the Lakers:
“At some point we have to start a new run, and that’s definitely going to include Kobe next year,” Lakers general manager Mitch Kupchak said Friday.”
“To jeopardize the next five or seven years … [by bringing] in old veterans that make a lot of money, just to win one more year, because that’s Kobe’s last year or could be his last year, I’m not sure that fits into doing it the right way.”
The 36-year-old Bryant is slated to make a league-high $25 million in 2015-16, the final year of a two-year extension he signed with the Lakers in December 2013.”

The Los Angeles Lakers hosted the Brooklyn Nets in their first game after the All-Star game and fell 114-105:
“With the loss the Lakers fall to 13-41 on the season. Head Coach Byron Scott told reporters that he was going to make some adjustments to the starting lineup and tonight he did just that.
Robert Sacre got the start over Jordan Hill. He scored 13 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. Jeremy Lin led the Lakers in scoring as he scored 18 off the bench. Ed Davis had a strong game as he scored 16 points and grabbed 14 rebounds off the bench as well.
Wayne Ellington struggled shooting the ball tonight. He had just 8 points and was 0-7 from behind the arch.
On the other side Brook Lopez had a strong game off the bench. He tallied 22 points and 14 rebounds. Joe Johnson lead all scorers with 23 points including 5 three pointers. Deron Williams recorded a double-double with 12 points and 15 assists.”
