Last night we got to recap the 2015 NHL season by watching some of the top names in hockey, and history, attend the NHL Awards. And, yes, it made us miss hockey and both of our teams. #ComeBackKings
Our CaliSports News NHL team broke out the predictions and gave us a breakdown of who they thought would win each award. You can read that here.
Carey Price was the man of the hour. He was a record setter last night in the awards won category, which matches his record setting player abilities on the ice. His 2015 season will go down as one of the best seasons for a goalie ever.
He is not one to boast though. ESPN.com reports the following quote from the Montreal Canadien:
“I’m just grateful,” Price said. “I’m immeasurably blessed to do what I do.”
Although he was the winner of the Hart Trophy, you know the one for the Most Valuable Player, he said the Lindsay Trophy is his most prized.
“No offense to everybody else, but I’m very humbled by that, because I compete against these guys,” Price said. “We go to war out there, and for them to vote for me is really special.”
“I’ve got to really thank the organization for not giving up on me,” said Price, who endured three rocky seasons early in his career before finding his NHL groove in 2012. “They saw I had the personality to get through it. It’s just unbelievable, the reception that I get in Montreal.”
“It can be difficult when you’re in an isolated community that might not see much hope,” Price said. “I just wanted to let them know that anything is possible. I came from a place that is nowhere close to anywhere. I just took advantage of my opportunities and worked harder than everybody else and wanted it more.”
Congrats to all of the winners last night! I think it’s time for Ducks and Kings hockey to come back!
