We like to start our day searching the web and reading articles about our beloved LA sports teams. It’s easy to get lost in the depth of the inter web, but luckily for you we have compiled a list of the most interesting and pertinent news stories for your morning reading pleasure. “This is a game that most Kings fans would like to forget. The Kings were sluggish and in full swing of their scoring (and winning) slump. The normally reliable Anze Kopitar couldn’t even score on a penalty shot and the Kings were embarrassed 3-0 by the rival Pacific Division leading Anaheim Ducks. Still I felt this game was worth mentioning for two very important reasons.
Reason 1 – Its historical value as this was the first official NHL regular season outdoor game ever played in California. 54,099 fans filled up the iconic Dodger Stadium while millions tuned in around the world to watch the Freeway Series (and the band KISS) like they have never seen them before.
Reason 2* – This game was the greatest trade in the history of the known universe (yes, even beating the trade of Wayne Gretzky to Los Angeles) as the savvy general manager (or more properly named “The Architect”) of the Kings Dean Lombardi, traded a loss in this historical outdoor game to the Duck’s GM Bob Murray for a playoff series win against the Ducks and for the 2 added draft picks of having the win be on the road in Anaheim and in a game 7! Brilliant!”

The Los Angeles Kings were not able to come out on top this afternoon after an overtime win put Nashville Predators in front 7-6:
“A goal early in the first went in the Kings favor with a shot from Matt Greene, and set the game off in the right direction, well at least we thought. The Predators tied it up in the fourth minute and took the lead in the sixth, with goals from Mike Fisher and Colin Wilson respectively.
Dwight King, Marian Gaborik and Jeff Carter score three goals, 1:27 apart in the final minutes of the third period to erase a 6-3 goal deficit.Ultimately it was the great Jeff Carter sent the game to OT following an assist from Anze Kopitar.
The Kings broke their record of most goals allowed at home today and they began their seven game homestead. It was also the first time Quick was removed from a game since the Kings’ season-opening loss to the San Jose Sharks, which equals a span of 31 starts.”
