Hollywood Blvd. News – Los Angeles Dodgers Edition

For this edition, let’s dive into the news surrounding the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The Los Angeles Dodgers are getting attention from USA Today for hitting like the 1927 Yankees, check out an excerpt here:

“The Dodgers’ .830 team OPS leads the Majors by more than 50 points, and ranks second among all affiliated professional clubs — behind only the Mets’ Class AAA team in Las Vegas, a famously fruitful hitting environment.

The average MLB club has scored 4.24 runs per game in 2015. It’s early yet, but that rate would be the highest in any season since 2012 if it holds, so it could be that the league in general is reversing the trend toward diminishing offensive output. And, unsurprisingly, the Dodgers’ offense has been buoyed to date by a bunch of small-sample performances that are likely unsustainable.

Still, they’re hitting like a team from bygone offensive eras, leading the Majors in homers and walks.”

Check out an excerpt from the Dodgers game recap of last night:

“The Dodgers were 15-2 at Dodger Stadium this season entering Wednesday, and looked for their sixth straight win but fell behind early against Miami giving up single runs in the third and fourth innings. The club was able to take the lead after putting up three runs in the bottom of the fifth, however their bullpen was unable to hold on to the advantage after Dodger starting pitcher Carlos Frias exited with one on and no outs in the seventh inning. Frias night ended with him giving up six hits, striking out five and only walking one. Adam Liberatore took his place in the seventh and gave up a couple of singles that loaded the bases for the eventual game winning two RBI single for Stanton. The Miami Marlins who have had trouble closing out games in the ninth inning, turned to A.J. Ramos who retired the side in order for his first save of the season.

Miami Marlins starting pitcher Jarred Cosart was in line for the win before leaving the game with one out and one on in the sixth after injuring his hamstring. ”
