For this edition, let’s dive into the news surrounding the Los Angeles Dodgers.
On a day that celebrates profession in baseball, the Los Angeles Dodgers announced that they will honor the great Jackie Robinson with the first statue at Dodger Stadium:
“The day marked the 68th anniversary of Robinson’s debut with the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1947. Every team in the league celebrates the legend because the impact of what Jackie provided for the sport cannot be contained to just one city or team. He opened doors and has held them open for seven generations.
Stan Kasten, the Dodgers’ team president and organization’s CEO, announced that Jackie Robinson will be the first ever player/figure to have a statue at the stadium. What an honor! Especially because Jackie never had the opportunity to play in LA or at the ballpark.
Rachel Robinson said it’s a dream come true for her family.
“I’ve been waiting years and years for this,” Robinson said with a laugh following the announcement on Wednesday. “It’s the fulfillment of a dream.”

The LA Times discusses the Dodgers’ outfield:
“If he doesn’t, it won’t be because he spent part of the season in the minor leagues, as he did as a rookie. Or because he was moved from right field to center in the middle of the season, as was the case last year.
The most significant obstacle that remains is his drifting mind.
“I’m trying to fix that problem that I had of not concentrating,” the cannon-armed Cuban said in Spanish. “I’m prepared for every pitch. Maybe that’s what I need to win a Gold Glove.”
