We like to start our day searching the web and reading articles about our beloved LA sports teams. It’s easy to get lost in the depth of the inter web, but luckily for you we have compiled a list of the most interesting and pertinent news stories for your morning reading pleasure. For this edition, let’s dive into the news surrounding the Los Angeles Clippers.

The Los Angeles Clippers season has been scrutinized so far this year. CaliSports News discusses the talk:

The Contenders

Having arguably the best point guard and leader at the helm of the team in Chris Paul, and top 5 power forward in Blake Griffin, the Clippers feel they should be able contend in this league. Don’t forget, they also have a veteran coach in Doc Rivers. Rivers is no stranger to anyone who watches the NBA, especially because he led the Boston Celtics to the 2008 title.

The other pieces in the equation are the always improving defensive anchor, DeAndre Jordan. Jordan is an elite shot blocker and a tenacious rebounder which is the perfect player to go alongside Griffin. At the wing position they have an instant spark plug of the bench in Jamal Crawford, and sharpshooter J.J. Redick. Also, contributing to the team are the “3 and D” small forward Matt Barnes and stretch center Spencer Hawes. Add all this up and you have a complete team with Paul and Blake Griffin as the starring roles.

The best part about all this? Blake Griffin is still getting better.

Griffin came into the league as the first pick in the 2009 draft, but missed the entire season due to injury. He debuted his talent in the 2010-2011 season averaging 22.5 points per game, 12.1 rebounds, and 3.8 assists. Griffin won Rookie of the Year and it seemed harder to improve off of those numbers, but he has done exactly that. The stats may not show the improvement as a player, but when we go more in-depth, he is becoming a more complete basketball player. His points per game have dropped because of Chris Paul joining the Clippers in 2011.”

According to NBA.com Blake Griffin has been named the Western Conference player of the week:

“Griffin was named the top player in the Western Conference for his performances during the week of November 24th-November 30th. During the week the Clippers finished off an impressive road trip. The Clippers went 4-0 that week, 6-1 throughout the entire road trip led by the high-flying Blake Griffin.

Griffin averaged nearly 24 points, 10 rebounds, and 5 assists during the stretch. He also shot 51% from the field showing off his extreme efficiency. With his entire week being a highlight reel, one game stood out in particular.

When the Clippers took on the Charlotte Hornets Griffin scored 22 points and grabbed 16 assists as the Clippers went on to win 113-92. Griffin also dished 9 assists as he was just one assist short of a triple-double.

LeBron James won the Player of the Week award for the Eastern Conference.

Blake Griffin is only 25 years old and it seems like he continues to get better every year. Our own Conner Aylward wrote an article about how much Griffin means to the Clippers click here to check it out.”
