We like to start our day searching the web and reading articles about our beloved LA sports teams. It’s easy to get lost in the depth of the inter web, but luckily for you we have compiled a list of the most interesting and pertinent news stories for your morning reading pleasure. For this edition, let’s dive into the news surrounding the Los Angeles Angels.
Here is an excerpt from the Los Angeles Angels game yesterday:
“Garrett Richards threw six-plus innings and allowed just one run on four hits, and the Los Angeles Angels got a boost from their struggling offense while holding on for dear life in a wild ninth inning, winning 6-5 Thursday over the Oakland Athletics.
The Angels jumped ahead early when Johnny Giavotella singled home Drew Butera in the third inning off Athletics’ starter Jesse Chavez.
In the fifth, the Angels pushed three more runs across off Chavez, first when Kole Calhounsingled to right field with the bases loaded. That would score Taylor Featherston and Erick Aybar, as Mike Trout moved to third.
The next hitter, David Freese, brought Trout home on a fielder’s choice groundout to A’s shortstop Marcus Semien, and made the score 4-0 Halos after five full innings.

After Angels manager Mike Scioscia argued a call at home plate, he found out a little something about instant replays:
“With the Angels trailing, 1-0, in the seventh inning, Kole Calhoun led off with a single. David Freese followed with a grounder that Giants third baseman Casey McGehee misplayed.
But the ball caromed right to shortstop Brandon Crawford, who threw to second base for what umpire Doug Eddings ruled was a force out.
Angels Manager Mike Scioscia challenged the call, and replays shown in the stadium and press box showed clearly that Calhoun’s foot hit the bag before the ball reached second baseman Matt Duffy’s glove.
But after instant-replay officials in New York reviewed the play, the call was upheld and Calhoun jogged off the field.
