We like to start our day searching the web and reading articles about our beloved LA sports teams. It’s easy to get lost in the depth of the inter web, but luckily for you we have compiled a list of the most interesting and pertinent news stories for your morning reading pleasure. For this edition, let’s dive into the news surrounding the Los Angeles Angels.

Mike Trout of the Los Angeles Angels has won his third consecutive Silver Slugger award.

“Trout and Mike Piazza are the only players in major league history to win the award in each of their first three full big league seasons. The award has been presented annually since 1980. Trout is the second Angels player to win the award at least three times, joining Vladimir Guerrero, who won four from 2004 to 2007.

The 23-year-old Trout is also the youngest player to win the award three times and the fourth player in AL history to earn a Silver Slugger in three straight years while also stealing at least 15 bases each season, joining Julio Franco, Ken Griffey Jr. and Alex Rodriguez.

Trout hit .287 with a .377 on-base percentage and .561 slugging percentage in 2014, he set career highs with 36 home runs and 111 runs batted in and matched his career bests with 39 doubles and nine triples.”

“The Houston Astros have acquired catcher Hank Conger in a trade with the Los Angeles Angels.

The Angels got right-hander Nick Tropeano and minor league catcher Carlos Perez in the deal Wednesday.

The 26-year-old Conger played 80 games with 70 starts last season for the Angels. A first-round pick in 2006, Conger hit .221 with four homers and a career-high 25 RBI.

Houston general manager Jeff Luhnow says: ”We scouted him extensively this year as a divisional opponent and feel he brings a unique skill set to our organization.”
