Bruce Arena says Galaxy hope to sign veteran striker Edson Buddle:
Edson Buddle’s return to the LA Galaxy appears closer to reality, with head coach Bruce Arena acknowledging that the club is interested in signing the veteran striker.
Buddle, 33, saw limited action during the Galaxy’s 11-day trek to Europe after picking up an injury, but he was involved Wednesday in LA’s first training session since returning Sunday from Dublin.
“Buddle’s here training. We hope to be able to sign him …,” Arena said following the practice at StubHub Center. “If we’re going to do something, we’ll let you know.”
Buddle, one of eight men to score at least 100 MLS regular-season goals, has been with the Galaxy since camp opened last month after Colorado in November declined the option on his contract. He spent 4½ seasons with LA

“The Galaxy drew first blood in the 18th minute when Stefan Ishizaki found Baggio Husidic who tapped it into back of the net ending a sequence that began with a clever pass from Robbie Keane. Seattle equalized less than 10 minutes later when a Marco Pappa shot curled under the outstretched hands of Brian Rowe.
The two sides rotated their rosters at halftime, but the Galaxy soon took the lead for good. In the 54thminute, Dan Gargan launched a ball into Alan Gordon who knocked the ball down to an onrushing Ignacio Maganto. Alone with plenty of space to operate, the Galaxy’s top draft pick in the 2015 MLS SuperDraft rifled a shot into the back of the net to give LA the victory.
On February 16, 2015, the LA Galaxy played the first match of its 2015 European Tour against Hammarby IF, a Swedish football team, at Tele2 Arena. Before the game, I predicted a 2-1 game with the Galaxy winning.
