According to a story written on ESPN.com this morning, the LA Galaxy tried to make a move to acquire Frank Lampard who is on loan from Chelsea at Manchester City.

The news was confirmed by Bruce Arena through the MirrorSport.com. He said:

“We recruited Frank pretty hard here. The deal was close.”

“We talk to pretty much every single player that is interested in coming to the U.S. and certainly when you hear Frank Lampard is willing, you’re gonna have a lengthy conversation

“I got to know Frank and visited him in London and he’s a fabulous person and player and he’s really going to help football here in America. He’s going to do really well.”

Frank Lampard, like Steven Gerrard, is getting up in age. He is 37 and put in 6 goals in his 22 Premier League appearances last season.

That would definitely have been an interesting component to this LA Galaxy team. Lampard has had a career full of accolades and has played with some of the best players not only in the league but also under one of the greatest managers of recent years.

I think Lampard would have been a better fit for the Galaxy. Steven Gerrard, although a Liverpool legend, has never won any trophies for his beloved Liverpool. Lampard has been apart of 3 Premier League titles and has scored 177 goals.

What do you think Galaxy fans? Stevie G or Frankie L?
