Greinke is Rudely Welcomed Back with 5 Home-Runs in 10-2 Win

Through 3 and a half innings this game had all the makings of a pitchers duel. Dodgers right-hander Kenta Maeda had only given up a lead off single to Jean Segura before retiring the next 12 hitters in order, 6 by strikeout.

On the other bench, former Dodger right-hander Zack Greinke had only given up a single to Corey Seager in the first then proceeded to retire the next 11 hitters, including 6 strikeouts of his own and 3 straight before the bottom of the 3rd. However, it is in the bottom of the 4th that the Dodgers finally got to Greinke. First Corey Seager, who pretty much has the rookie of the year award locked up showed why by hitting a double off the right field wall that looked like it was going out at first but hit that marine layer and only produced a double. After a Justin Turner ground out, during which Zack Greinke and catcher Welington Castillo had a laugh before retiring Turner, Adrian Gonzalez seemed to take offense and took an 0-1 pitch into the right field seats, if you listen closely you can hear him grunt as he hits it out.

Greinke got out of that inning unscathed but the Dodgers were just getting started as Joc Pederson:

Corey Seager:

Justin Turner:

and Yasmani Grandal:

All homered in the 4th inning sending Greinke back to the dugout with an 8-0 deficit :

The rest of the game doesn’t matter, Maeda went 6.1 innings only giving up a single run and striking out 8. After that, Louis Coleman, Jesse Chavez and and Josh Ravin all finished up the game.

The Dodgers scored two more runs to get to 10, that’s all well and good but who cares when your team hits 4 home runs in an inning, so let’s see it again!

After that game, the Dodgers are now 77-60 and are up 4 game over the Giants with 25 games to go.

Next game with be on Tuesday, September 6th at 7:10PM against the Arizona Diamondbacks.
The Diamondbacks Shelby Miller (2-10 , 6.81 ERA) against the Dodgers Ross Stripling (3-6 , 4.15 ERA)
