Garrett Richards struck 10 and the Los Angeles Angels beat the Houston Astros 3-1. The Angels looked to recover after their 6-5 loss last night.

Richards had a very strong outing for the Halos. He pitched 6.2 innings allowing just 1 hit and 1 run. He struck out 10 batters and walked 4 on his way to his 3rd win of the season.

On the hand Scott Feldman had a strong outing for the Astros. He pitched 7 innings allowing 6 hits and 3 runs. He struck out 5 and walked 1 as he picked up the loss.

It was a scoreless ball game until the 5th inning. Chris Iannetta reached base on an infield single that allowed David Freese and Erick Aybar to score. Feldman’s throwing error was part of the wacky sequence.

Kole Calhoun hit a sacrifice fly left field that brought in Johnny Giavotella and the Angels held a 3-0 advantage.

In the 7th inning Preston Tucker was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded that allowed Luis Valbuena to score. That was the only run that the Astros scored.

Joe Smith pitched a clean 8th inning for the Angels. Huston Street came on in the 9th and shut the club down as he picked up his 10th save of the year.

The Angels will get a day off on Monday. They will take on the Colorado Rockies on Tuesday night in Los Angeles.
