According to Bill Shaikin of the Los Angeles Times, starting pitcher Garrett Richards could miss the start of the 2015 season.

Richards had surgery on his left knee after tearing his patella tendon against the Boston Red Sox on August 20th. He was trying to cover first after a ground ball and was hurt on the play.

It was unfortunate since Richards was having such an awesome season. He was 13-4 with a 2.61 ERA, before the season ending injury. Manager Mike Scioscia spoke to ESPN.com about the manner.

“I think the prognosis of having him back somewhere in the first month to maybe the first six weeks of the season looks very good,” Scioscia said.

The Angels are hoping that Richards comes back next season healthy as he was a major part of the rotation. Richards talked to ESPN.com about his accomploishments of last season.

It was a great season,” he said. “I’ve learned a lot and I took a lot of positives from it. Even the games I didn’t particularly pitch well, I took positives from it and made some major strides with my mentality and my delivery. It was another year where I felt like I made some major strides.”

Angels fans wish Garrett nothing but the best and look forward to seeing him on the mound next season!
