Galaxy Get Their Man And 3 Points On Big Saturday
- Updated: September 3, 2017
So far in this 2017 season very few weekends have gone as well for the Los Angeles Galaxy as this one.
The day got kicked off well before the team stepped onto the pitch to take on the Colorado Rapids as the much anticipated signing of a new Center Back was finally confirmed by the club.

Ever since the transfer of former Captain Jelle Van Damme, Ciani’s name has been one on Galaxy fans’ lips. The 33 year-old Center Back played at FC Lorient in France last season and has clubs like Bordeaux, Lazio and RCD Espanyol on his very impressive resume. Ciani is known for being an excellent header of the ball and his size in central defense will fair well in the always physical MLS.
The day didn’t end with the big signing, not by a long shot. LA still had to take on the Colorado Rapids at Stubhub Center Saturday evening.
Without the Dos Santos brothers who are off with the Mexican National team, many supporters wondered if the Galaxy would leave the pitch again disappointed. Thankfully those questions faded quickly.
Gyasi Zardes had his game of the year by far in this one and he got it started early, drawing a Penalty Kick in the 17th minute. Allowing his teammate Romain Alessandrini to knock in the penalty and put the Galaxy on top 1-0.
Never a doubt. π#LAvCOLpic.twitter.com/Q8TG1yPhXV

In the 23rd minute Zardes again helped a teammate snag a goal as a headed pass from the Striker went right to the feet of Ema Boateng who punched the ball through the legs of two defenders and right by Colorado keeper Zac MacMath making it 2-0 Galaxy.

I hope you didn’t think Zardes was done making an impact yet. After helping two of his teammates get goals early on, the birthday boy was able to get himself a present as a wonderful pass in from Alessandrini met the foot of Zardes for his first goal of the season.
We love everything about this goal. π€#LAvCOLpic.twitter.com/wuHf03EB9m

The 3-0 scoreline would hold on as a wonderful performance from the Galaxy defense and keeper Jon Kempin kept Colorado from getting many good looks at goal.
Saturday marked the best day this club has seen in quite some time during this disappointing season. Undoubtedly it offers some promise for the squad moving forward and might be enough for them to garner some momentum heading into next season.
