Fulmer, Tigers Shutout Angels, 3-0

@tigers_fanly

Michael Fulmer came into this game with only six career games to his credit, last night he made a name for himself as the Detroit Tigers shut down the Los Angeles Angels bats, 3-0.

Angels fans were very nervous when the scoreboard was filled with zeros which included in the hit column as well. Fulmer carried a no-hitter for seven and two-thirds, his no-hit bid ended on a single by C.J. Cron. The Angels only other hit was a double by Gregorio Petit. The team struggled with runners in scoring position, going 0 for 3. Angels starter Matt Shoemaker (L,3-6), got pounded in this game, giving up ten hits and two of the three Tigers runs. The only positive is that Shoemaker managed to strikeout eight Tigers hitters, on 107 pitches thrown.

HALOS DUGOUT:

There wasn’t much to cheer about today, Baseball has many games in a season and this one is history. The team is moving forward to Pittsburgh. You just have to tip the cap to Michael Fulmer for his performance in this one.

ANGELS ON DECK:

The Halos (24-29), will head to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania for the second time in the team’s history, the last time they made this trip in 2004, the team was known as the Anaheim Angels. This will be the fifth all-time meeting between the two teams, with the series even at six wins for both teams. In 2013 Anaheim lost all three games to the Pirates in California. The Halos will send Jered Weaver (4-4, 5.40 ERA), in game one of the series. The Pirates will counter with Francisco Liriano (4-4, 4.63 ERA). The Angels are now in the basement of the American League West, seven full games behind the Seattle Mariners. The first pitch on Friday, June the third will be at 7:05 EST.
