Former Swingman Matt Barnes Retires

According to the official Twitter account of Matt Barnes, he has retired after 14 years in the NBA.

Former teammate Jamal Crawford shared his support of Barnes.

Barnes played his college ball at UCLA before being drafted in the 2nd round of the 2002 NBA Draft. He spent time with the Los Angeles Clippers, Sacremento Kings, New York Knicks, Philadelphia 76ers, Golden State Warriors, Phoenix Suns, Orlando Magic, Los Angeles Lakers, and Memphis Grizzlies.

Barnes played key roles on a few championship contending teams and finally won a championship last season with Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant. Barnes was on the Clippers as their swingman and defender with Blake Griffin and Chris Paul and was known for his trash talking and hard-nosed defense.

Barnes carved out a nice career for himself as a second round and pick and can now enjoy retirement.
