Johnson is a former second round pick of the Chicago White Sox in the 2011 MLB Draft. He spent four years with the White Sox before joining the Padres via trade this season.
He made four starts with the Padres this year and struggled mightily. In his four starts he posted a 9.15 ERA and lost all four of his starts.
He was later placed on the 60-day disabled list in August and was unable to return before season’s end. San Diego is hopeful that Johnson will be able to pitch again during the 2018 season.
San Diego will look to rebuild this offseason for next year.
