Dwight Howard and Kobe Bryant faced each other for the first time since Howard left LA, and let’s just say they didn’t miss each other. In the middle of the fourth quarter Dwight Howard secured a rebound and elbowed Bryant in the chin.

The two star players have some bad blood after Howard’s departure from LA two summers ago.  The media had caused a stir about the relationship between Bryant and Howard this week. Lakers head coach Byron Scott had words of his own about the situation. To see Scott’s comments click here.

Kobe Bryant was not happy about the elbow he received from Howard.  He spoke to Baxter Holmes of ESPN.com about the matter.

He elbowed me in the face, and I’m gonna let him know, I don’t like that,” Bryant said after the game. “It’s that simple.”

According to the reports Bryant continually called Howard “soft” and added a few choice words about him.

You can’t help but like him,” Bryant said, smiling. “He’s a teddy bear. You can’t help but like him. I really meant that. He’s a really nice kid. But you know, when you’re competing, you have a goal in mind. I know one way to get there. There’s certain times when we didn’t see eye to eye, but that wasn’t one of those situations.”

Bryant and Howard haven’t played together in almost two years but it is very clear that the two do not like each other. The Rockets went on to beat the Lakers 108-90.

The Lakers are back in action tonight as they take on the Phoenix Suns in Phoenix at 7 p.m.
