Ducks Streak Ends In Pittsburgh

@NHL

The Anaheim Ducks winning streak came to an end on Monday night as they fell to the Pittsburgh Penguins 6-2. Anaheim had no answer for Sidney Crosby who extended his scoring streak to seven games.

Chris Kunitz got the Penguins on the board first with a tip-in shot assisted by Kris Letang and Crosby. This gave Pittsburgh the early 1-0 lead.

Conor Sheary scored a goal of his own later in the period. His goal was a tip-in shot that was assisted by Letang and Trevor Daley.

Ryan Getzlaf got the Ducks on the board at the end of the period. He scored a wrist shot goal that went unassisted. With just 17 seconds left in the period a familiar face Carl Hagelin scored a backhanded shot that was assisted by Phil Kessel and Brian Dumoulin. After the first period Anaheim trailed 3-1.

In the second period Crosby scored a snap shot goal that went unassisted to push the lead to 4-1. A few minutes later Patrick Maroon scored a wrist shot goal that was assisted by Corey Perry and Getzlaf and the Ducks cut the lead to 4-2.

The third period featured another goal from Crosby that was assisted by Kunitz. Olli Maatta added insult to injury when he scored a wrist shot goal that was assisted by Crosby and Patric Hornqvist.

John Gibson made 25 saves for 80% save percentage. He was pulled and Frederik made 4 saves in relief. Marc-Andre Fleury made 36 saves on the night.

Anaheim will take on the Philadelphia Flyers tonight in the second night of a back to back.
