Ducks Met With Randy Carlyle

@TSN_Sports

According to Darren Dreger of TSN the Anaheim Ducks met with Randy Carlyle yesterday regarding open head coaching job.

Felix Sicard of Hockey Writer doesn’t think the move of bring Carlyle back to Anaheim would be a smart move.

Carlye is a former player who was a second round pick in the 1976 NHL amatuer draft. He had a long NHL playing career spending ten years with the Winnipeg Jets.

While he was with the the Pittsburgh Penguins he won the Norris Trophy as well as made an All-Star game appearance.

After his playing days he became an assistant coach with the Jets for three years.  He then joined the Jets IHL team the Manitoba Moose as an assistant coach for six years.

Carlye returned to the NHL as an assistant coach with the Washington Capitals before becoming the head coach of the Moose for a season. It was then that he got his shot at the NHL level as a head coach when he became the head coach of the Ducks in 2005.

Carlye led the Ducks to their first ever Stanley Cup championship in 2007. He then struggled to have playoff success in the years that followed and was ultimately let go in 2012.

The Toronto Maple Leafs hired him to be their coach in 2012 and after missing the playoffs and 2014 and struggling in the 2015 season he was let go.

It will be interesting to see if Murray believes that Carlyle is the right man to get the Ducks over the hump or not. As more information surfaces on the Anaheim Ducks and their coaching search we will keep you up to date.
