Ducks Extend Winning Streak To 4

The Anaheim Ducks extended their winning streak to four with a 3-2 win over the San Jose Sharks on Tuesday night. Anaheim looks to be finding their stride as they start to try to climb the Pacific Division standings.

In a back in fourth contest Hampus Lindholm picked up a interference penalty against Tommy Wingels. San Jose was unable to capitalize on the power play.

Frederik Andersen made some great saves in the period and Anaheim offense showed their appreciation when they scored first. Rickard Rakell scored his eleventh goal of the season a snap shot goal that was assisted by Patrick Maroon (7) and Corey Perry (14).

After an official review the goal stood and the Ducks held a 1-0 advantage after the first period. About three minutes into the third period Dainus Zubrus scored his second goal of the season. His goal was a tip-in and was assisted by Brent Burns (26) and Paul Martin (10).

Rakell picked up tripping penalty against Justin Braun to give the Sharks a power play. With the Sharks on a power play Lindholm scored a shorthanded snap shot goal, his fourth goal of the season. His goal was assisted by Ryan Getzlaf (29) and put the Ducks up 2-1.

Later in the period Ryan Garbutt scored his third goal of the season. His wrist shot goal was assisted by Chris Stewart (8), and Josh Manson (3) and Anaheim held a 3-1 advantage.

A minute later Wingels scored a slap shot goal that was his fifth of the year. Joonas Donskoi (15) and Marc-Edouard Vlasic (19) were credited with the assists.

Vlasic picked up a Hi-sticking penalty against Rakell to give the Ducks a power play. Nothing came out of the penalty due to Martin Jones making some excellent saves.

Wingels picked up a interference penalty on Andersen but nothing materialized and after two period the Ducks led 3-2.

In the third period Paul Martin picked up the period’s first penalty. Martin was penalized for a delay of game for the puck going over the glass.

Matt Nieto picked up a Hi-sticking penalty against Rakell later in the period. Cam Fowler picked up a later hooking penalty against Chris Tierney that made fans nervous. Anaheim showed great poise and was able to hold off the Sharks at the Honda Center 3-2.

San Jose had 32 shots on goal compared to the Ducks 25. Jones made 22 saves on 25 shots, while Andersen made 30 saves on 32 shots.

Anaheim will take on their rival Los Angeles Kings at the Staples Center on Thursday night.
