Ducks Clinch Payoff Berth For 5th Straight Season

The Anaheim Ducks punched their postseason ticket for the fifth straight year with a win over the Vancouver Canucks 4-1 on Tuesday night. Anaheim has now won five in a row including seven out of the last eight games.
Anaheim got off to a fast start in this one. Corey Perry scored a wrist shot goal that was assisted by Nick Ritchie and Antoine Vermette to give them the lead just 23 seconds into the contest.
A minute later Patrick Eaves scored a wrist shot goal that was assisted by Rickard Rakell and Kevin Bieksa to push the Ducks lead to 2-0.
At the end of the period Ritchie scored a wrist shot goal of his own that was assisted by Hampus Lindholm and Josh Manson. After the first period the Ducks led 3-0.
In the second period Brandon Montour got in on the action with a slap shot goal. Vermette was credited with the assist that pushed the lead to 4-0.
The Canucks got on the board in the third period. Brock Boeser scored a wrist shot goal that was assisted by Brandon Sutter. Jonathan Bernier recorded 34 saves for a .971 save percentage. Ryan Miller recorded 35 saves for .897 save percentage.
Anaheim will continue their road trip when they take on the Winnipeg Jets on Thursday night.
