Ducks Can’t Hang With Predators, Fall 5-1

YouThe Anaheim Ducks travelled to Nashville to take on the Predators Thursday night in a game that Ducks fans will try to forget as they fell 5-1.

With the loss the Ducks record falls to just 1-4-1 on the season. This hasn’t been the start anyone could have expected.

In the first period neither team was able to get on the board. The Ducks actually had more shots on goal 10-6 in the first but it didn’t matter.

In the second period Nashville got on the board first. Eric Nystrom scored wrist shot that was assisted by Austin Watson and Mattias Ekholm and gave the Predators a 1-0 lead.

Ryan Ellis added to the lead when scored a slap shot goal. His goal was assisted by Mike Ribeiro and Seth Jones and the Ducks trailed 2-0.

To make matters worst Ribeiro scored a slap shot goal that was assisted by James Neal and Collin Wilson. This was the 3rd goal in the period and after the 2nd period that Ducks trailed 3-0.

In the 3rd period Nashville added to their lead when Elholm scored a slap shot goal. His goal was assisted by Ryan Ellis and Wilson. With the Ducks down 4-0 all seemed loss.

The Ducks finally got on the board when Jiri Sekac scored a slap shot goal. Ryan Kesler and Rickard Rakell were credited with the assist that cut the lead to 4-1.

Willson scored a slap shot goal with less than 2 minutes in the game that was assisted by Ellis and Seth Jones. Nashville held on to win 5-1.

Anton Khudobin recorded 25 saves tonight, while Pekka Rinne recorded 27.

Up next for the Ducks they will take on the Minnesota Wild on Saturday night.
