Dodgers Use Big 3rd Inning To Beat Padres 6-2

LOS ANGELES, Ca- The Los Angeles Dodgers scored 5 runs in the 3rd inning of last night’s game to beat the San Diego Padres 6-2.

For the Dodgers Alex Wood got the start. He pitched 7 inning allowing 5 hits and 2 runs. He struck out 4 and walked 1. He was awarded his 12th win of the year for his efforts.

On the other side Casey Kelly got the start. He lasted just 4.1 innings allowing 8 hits and 6 runs, only 3 of the runs were earned. He struck out 3 and walked 2 as he was dealt his 2nd loss of the season.

The Dodgers did most of their damage in the 3rd inning. Adrian Gonzalez hit a RBI single to right that brought in Carl Crawford. Justin Turner reached on a throwing error by Corey Spangenberg that allowed Howie Kendrick to score.

Andre Ethier followed with a RBI groundout. Corey Seager continued the rally with a RBI single, and A.J. Ellis capped it off with a RBI single to center and the Dodgers held a 5-0 lead after 3 innings.

Turner hit a RBI single in the 5th inning to push the lead to 6-0.

Alexi Amarista hit a RBI ground out in the 7th inning that brought in Jedd Gyorko and put the Padres on the board. Cody Decker followed with a sacrifice fly but the rally wasn’t enough and the Dodgers beat the Padres 6-2.

The Padres and Dodgers will continue their series tonight at 6:10 p.m. PST
