Dodgers Top Padres 5-1 Saturday

@zesty_dodgers

The Dodgers defeated the Padres, 5-1 on Saturday, behind another gem by Rich Hill.

Since being acquired, Hill has made two starts, each of them very similar to one another. In his first start, Hill fired six inning of shutout ball, striking out three and allowing five hits. Saturday, Hill allowed only one hit and struck out eight over six scoreless frames. His season ERA is down to 1.94 and his ERA since the trade sits at a somewhat decent 0.00.

Adrian Gonzalez put the Dodgers on top, 1-0, in the fourth on an RBI single, followed by a three-run blast for Yasmani Grandal, his 22nd of the season. With a 4-0 lead in the sixth, Josh Reddick launched a solo shot for LA, capping off his 3-4 afternoon.

Wil Myers supplied San Diego with their only run of the day in the eighth on a run scoring single off Casey Fien, but Kenley Jansen shut the door on any hopes of a comeback in the ninth, locking down the Dodgers’ 5-1 victory. Rich Hill is 2-0 since being acquired.

The Giants scratched out a 3-2 win in Chicago yesterday to keep Los Angeles’ division lead at two games.

Jose De Leon will make his MLB debut for the Dodgers on Sunday in the series finale vs San Diego.
