Dodgers To Interview Dave Martinez

According to Joel Sherman of the New York Post, the Los Angeles Dodgers are planning to interview Chicago Cubs bench coach Dave Martinez for their vacant managerial opening.

Jon Heyman of CBSsports.com also reported the news.

Martinez is a former big leaguer who is originally from Orlando, Florida. Martinez was drafted in the 3rd round of the 1983 MLB draft by the Chicago Cubs.

He spent 16 years in the majors, spending time with the Montreal Expos, Cubs, Tampa Bay Devil Rays,  Chicago White Sox, San Francisco Giants, Atlanta Braves, Texas Rangers, Cincinnati Reds, and Toronto Blue Jays.

Martinez served as the bench coach with the Rays for 6 years with Andrew Friedman and Joe Maddon. When Maddon left for Chicago Martinez went with him.

Martinez is the latest name to fall in the Dodgers managerial search. As more information surfaces on the Dodgers and their offseason moves we will keep you up to date.
