Dodgers Take 2-0 Series Lead Over D’Backs

The Los Angeles Dodgers used 12 hits to beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 8-5 on Saturday night extending their series lead to 2-0. With the win, Los Angeles is just one win away from the NLCS.

Rich Hill got the start. He pitched 4 innings allowing 3 hits and 2 runs. He walked 3 and struck out 4 as he was awarded a no-decision.

On the other side, Robbie Ray got the start. He pitched 4.1 innings allowing 4 hits and 4 runs. He walked 4 and struck out 6 as he picked up the loss.

The offense got started in the first inning when Paul Goldschmidt hit a 2-run shot that brought in A.J. Pollock. Yasiel Puig grounded out in the second inning that brought in Enrique Herandez and after 2 Los Angeles trailed 2-1.

Logan Forsythe scored on a wild pitch in the fourth inning. Chris Taylor reached base on an infield single that brought in Austin Barnes and the Dodgers took a 3-2 lead.

It was Forsythe in the fifth inning that hit a RBI single that brought in Cody Bellinger. Barnes followed with a 2-run double that brought in Curtis Granderson and Forsythe. Puig capped the inning off with a RBI single and the Dodgers led 7-2.

Brandon Dury hit a 3-run shot in the seventh inning that brought in Jake Lamb and Ketel Marte and trimmed the lead to 7-5. Taylor reached on an infield single that brought in Forsythe and Dodgers held an 8-5 advantage.

Kenley Jansen came on and pitched 1.2 innings to pick up the save. He struck out 2 batters.
