Dodgers Snap Three Game Losing Streak With 10-6 Victory
- Updated: July 9, 2016
Yasmani Grandal had himself a game Friday evening, going 5-5 with three bombs to help lead the Dodgers to a 10-6 victory over San Diego.
Scott Kazmir was lifted after only three innings due to a high pitch count (85). He allowed three runs on six hits including a two run HR by Melvin Upton Jr. Kazmir was most certainly not at his best, but was able to grind through a few tough innings and give the Dodgers a chance to win.
Grandal accounted for more than half of the Dodgers’ runs, driving in six on his five hits and three HR’s. Justin Turner went deep on his 13th bomb of the season, as did Howie Kendrick, his fourth of the season. Yasiel Puig tallied a multi-hit game with a couple RBI’s, and Adrian Gonzalez raised his AVG to .285 with a 2-3 night.
Louis Coleman got roughed up a bit out of the Dodgers bullpen, allowing three runs over one inning of work. From there, J.P. Howell, Pedro Baez, Joe Blanton, and Kenley Jansen all combined to toss four scoreless frames and lock down the 10-6 victory.
LA is still hanging around in the NL West race, sitting at 6.5 GB of the Giants as of Saturday morning. If the season ended today, the Dodgers would host the NL Wild Card game vs the Mets. LA has two games remaining before the All-Star break, both vs the Padres. They can clinch the series victory in today’s rubber match, set to get underway at 4:15 PM PST. Brandon McCarthy will get the ball for the Dodgers (1-0, 0.00 ERA over 1 start in 2016) vs Luis Perdomo (3-3, 7.39 ERA over 21 games and 6 starts in 2016).
