Dodgers Slam Arizona, 6-3. The Magic Number Is Down To 4
- Updated: September 24, 2015
Clayton Kershaw (W 15-7), picked up his fifteen of the season, as the Los Angeles Dodgers are moving closer to a division title.
Kershaw performance was not bad, despite only pitching five complete innings to earn him the win. Arizona was able to score all of their runs off of Kershaw but the bullpen came through final four innings. Juan Nicasio, J.P. Howell, Yimi Garcia and Chris Hatcher all held down the fort, to give Kelly Jansen (S,34), another successful save opportunity.
After the D’Backs jumped out to an early three-run lead, the Dodgers had a very nice fifth inning, cutting the lead to 3-2. The biggest hit in the game came off the bat of center fielder Chris Heisey, on a grand slam, that barely got into the left field seats, that was proven to be the game winner. In our final look at the Arizona Diamondbacks (73-80), the Dodgers managed to win the series 13-6, taking 8 of 10 at home at Dodger Stadium.
NEXT UP FOR THE DODGERS:
As the team gets closer to the division title, the win helped reduce that number to four games. The team will now make their final road trip of the season. The first stop will be in Colorado (63-90), with a final showdown with the San Francisco Giants, starting Monday night.
Mike Bolsinger (6-4,3.26 ERA), will face David Hale (4-5, 6.32 ERA), in game one of the three-game weekend series. Currently, the Dodgers hold a 7.5 lead over the second place Giants, in the National League West, with the game between the Padres and Giants to be later tonight.
