According to Mark Saxon of ESPNLosAngles.com Andrew Friedman has spoken to Josh Byrnes about the Los Angeles Dodgers general manager job.
Friedman was hired early this week but is already quick at work. Click here to read about the Friedman hiring.
Josh Byrnes has worked very closely in the NL West division has he was the general manager for both the Arizona Diamondbacks and San Diego Padres.
Friedman is not ready to name a general manager after Ned Colletti was reassigned to a new role. Click here to read about the Ned situation.
Friedman had this to say about the GM vacancy according to Mark Saxon.
“It’s still pretty recent, so as far as specifics, we don’t know yet, but we’re going to embrace the dynamic people who are already in place and bring people in from the outside and we’re going to work together,” Friedman said.
Whether or Josh Byrnes is the frontrunner or not is yet to be seen. The real question remains on how much power the general manager will actually have. Friedman has a celebrated past in baseball operations so he will most likely be calling the shots.
The Dodgers offseason just began but they are extremely active already.
