Dodgers Rally Comes Up Short, Lose To D’Backs 8-4

LOS ANGELES, Ca- The Los Angeles Dodgers rally came up short against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Monday night and they fell 8-4.
For the Dodgers Brett Anderson got the start. He pitched 4.2 innings allowing 10 hits and 5 runs. He struck out 1 and walked one. He picked up his 9th loss of the year.
On the other side Jhoulys Chacin started. He pitched 5.1 innings allowing 6 hits and 2 runs. He did strike out 4 but also walked 4 and picked up his first win of the year.
It was the Dodgers who got on the board first. Adrian Gonzalez hit a solo shot to center field. It was his 28th bomb of the year and gave Los Angeles a 1-0 lead. Corey Seager followed with a RBI double right that brought in Howie Kendrick to push the lead to 2-0.
In the 3rd inning the Diamondbacks got on the board. A.J. Pollock hit a sacrifice fly to center that brought in Ender Inciarte. This cut the lead to 2-1.
Yasmany Tomas hit a solo shot in the 4th inning. It was his 9th of the year and tied the game at 2 a piece.
Aaron Hill hit a solo shot of his own in the 5th inning to get the offense going once again. It was his 6th of the year. Welington Castillo followed with a RBI single to left and Brandon Drury reached on a fielder’s choice that brought in Paul Goldschmidt and the D’Backs lead 5-2.
Goldschmidt continued his awesome season with a solo bomb to left field in the 8th inning. It was 29th homer of the year and pushed the lead to 6-2.
Yasmani Grandal hit a 2-run blast in the bottom of the 8th inning. For him it was 16th of the year and brought in Corey Seager and cut the lead to 6-4.
In the 9th inning David Peralta hit a 2-run single that brought in Chris Owings and Drury and the D’backs beat the Dodgers 8-4.
The D’Backs and Dodgers will continue their series tonight. Robbie Ray and Alex Wood will take the mound respectively.
