Dodgers Rally Back To Beat Cardinals Move Into First

The Los Angeles Dodgers rallied back from a 3-0 deficit to beat the St. Louis Cardinals 9-4 on Tuesday night. With the win the Dodgers are now atop the NL West.
For Los Angeles Kenta Maeda got the start. He pitched four innings and allowing four hits, three runs, while striking out 2, and walking 3. He was awarded a no decision for his efforts.
On the other side Michael Wacha got the start. He pitched three innings allowing five hits and four runs only three of them earned. He walked three and struck out four as he picked up his third loss of the season.
The offense got started in the first inning for the Cards. Matt Carpenter hit a RBI single that brought in Dexter Fowler. Yadier Molina followed with a 2-run single of his own that brought in Tommy Pham and Carpenter. After the first the Cards held a 3-0 lead.
In the third inning Adrian Gonzalez hit a sacrifice fly to left field that brought in Logan Forsythe. Chase Utley followed with a RBI double that brought in Yasmani Grandal. Kike Hernandez hit an RBI single that brought in Chris Taylor and Utley scored on a throwing error that gave the Dodgers an 4-3 lead.
In the fifth inning Yasiel Puig drew a walk with the bases loaded that brought in a run. Franklin Gutierrez drew a walk as well that brought in another run. Forysthe reach on a fielder’s choice that brought in another and after the fifth inning the Dodgers led 7-3.
Molina hit a solo homerun in the 8th inning to cut the lead to 7-4. In the 9th inning Hernandez hit a sac fly that brought in a run. Austin Barnes hit a RBI double that brought in Taylor and the Dodgers went on to win 9-4.
