The right-handed pitching prospect has gone through the necessary hoops and is not eligible to sign with a Major League club. Lopez is 21 years-old and throws a cut fastball, changeup, slider, and curveball. What make him stand out from the pack however, is his ability to throw his fastball that tops out at 100 MPH.
Lopez has had a hell of a journey to get to this point. He achieved residency in Haiti, and was granted permission to sign with a team this week by the United States Department of Treasury according to Sanchez.
It will be interesting to see just how much money Lopez will demand as no one is sure just how good he really is. For both the Dodgers and Padres, they have made their fair share of moves this offseason. It will not be surprising if one of these teams land the Cuban prospect.
