Chapman was reportedly involved in a domestic violence case at the end of October that the Dodgers did not know about. Heyman reported a statement from Chapman’s lawyer.
Chapman attorney Jay reisinger: “I reviewed the facts as they are stated, and I deny the facts on behalf of aroldis.”

Once the reports surfaced the Dodgers put the deal on pause. Aroldis Chapman is a hard throwing reliever that is consistently clocked at 100 MPH or better.
The Dodgers were hoping for a situation where they could bolster their bullpen after the departure of Zack Greinke to the Arizona Diamondbacks. The pairing of Kenley Jansen and Chapman would have been one of the most deadly combinations in all of baseball.
The Dodgers will now have to turn their attention elsewhere in order to improve their pitching. With a move like Chapman the Dodgers may look into trading for other bullpen pitchers.
